School Information

Get School Information Online

America has a public school rating. Nowadays you can hop online and see what your local schools are ranked in this system. Much of this has to do with high test scores. However, I would look into more than just the overall testing. Sure, this is great to see how the local kids perform, but what about other crucial issues? When it comes to school information regarding my 8 year old daughter, I want to know more than just the grades her classmates are receiving. I want to know if the school is overcrowded, located in a good area, and most importantly safe to attend.

You may want to look at more than just state ratings. Although states are rated for their public testing, I would pay closer attention to certain schools. For example, a state could be ranked number 3 in the nation overall, but it could still have a few terrible schools. But since it's all added up and placed on a chart as an overall rating, you may not catch it. And what if your child was attending one of the bad schools? The rating would no longer be worth much. The best route here is to look up specific school information, or search by district. If you reside in a small town, it shouldn't be that difficult. There is probably only one elementary, one middle and one high school. See how it's ranked in the state or in the nation overall. This will give you a better idea regarding the school's success.

School Information and Your Child

So what about your child? Granted school information can be helpful when choosing a particular district to live in, but your child is a sovereign individual. It's imperative to remember this. Just because general test scores are low within the school, doesn't mean your child's have to be. I recently noticed that my daughter's school was ranked fairly average in the nation, but her personal scores are off the charts. That's what truly matters to me. Furthermore, when sorting through schoolinformation, it's crucial to take notice of the crime rate and safety of your child's public school. This factor should take precedence over all. And just some food for thought; consider private schools if you can afford them. They have more to offer regarding academics.

Take your time while searching for school information because you certainly don't want to make a bad choice and have to change school in the middle of the year.
