Foreign Language Next Door

We live in a world that is forever changing and evolving. Some of these changes are positive and others are not so desirable. The key is to roll with the punches and move on. Now, one aspect of our society here in the USA concerns language barriers. Although there are plenty of them considering the variety of people that share our great country, some of them are being tore down. Take Spanish for instance. This is a foreign language to many of us, but we're taking the time to learn it in school and college with hopes to better adjust. At least a great many of us are. Not everyone is interested to learn foreign language skills or work to evolve as a nation. This is to be expected. My question is; does this country actually have a designated/native language that's expected to be learned by all?

Some folks will tell you that America has no specific language. It's basically an anything goes kind of deal. Hmm, this is an interesting point of view. And while I'm not opposed to learn foreign language, I can't say that I agree with the idea of the USA having no standard language. It's English if you ask me. This particular language has been spoken here for over two hundred years now. Those who migrate to this great nation should have a desire to learn it. Not that they have to, but it sure would make their chances of being successful more feasible. Then there is the other side. Why do most of us learn foreign language skills? It's so we can efficiently communicate with one-another. You may be surprised by this, but there are areas you can visit in the United States where most people are speaking fluent Spanish. Miami, Florida is definitely one of these places. So before you head on down to the tropical beach state for the summer, be sure to brush up on your Spanish skills.

In this day and age it's not so difficult to learn foreign language skills. Simply by getting online, you can begin learning a foreignlanguage of your choice. And the best part is, this is a free service. There are websites that will assist you with this. Crank up the volume on your computer speakers, and start listening to simple translations. You'll be fluent in a foreign tongue in no time.

One thing you can do too is while watching a movie on DVD, just change to a foreign language setting and you will have the benefit of listening and watching at the same time some action. An easy and fun way to learn if you ask me!
