Human Resources Degrees Distance Learning?

I have been involved with human resource management for a long time, but human resources degrees seem to be a new development. At first, I thought it was a ridiculous notion. The point is that anyone with a natural ability to manage people and a decent level of education can handle human resources jobs. A human resource job does not require any special training. A business degree can be helpful, but what really is necessary is the ability to manage people, a good sense of organization, and the ability to meet deadlines. I could see how getting a human resources degree could help you, but lots of things could help you with these goals. You can learn how to manage people simply from interacting with them, or from on-the-job training. As for the rest of it, most people have the skills. I couldn't figure out how distance learning degree from a human resources online program could really help anyone out.

Nonetheless, when we had the last round of human resources jobs hiring, I considered several candidates with these degrees. I was consistently impressed by most of the people with human resources degrees. Although they were not the only skilled candidates – and not all of them were skilled – they tended to have some very interesting ideas about novel approaches to human resource planning.

Human Resources Degrees Programs Worth it?

A lot of these human resource degrees students – having come out of college in the last few years – had the problem that a lot of well-educated but underemployed people have. Humanresourcesdegrees give you a lot of ideas, but they also blind you to the importance of on-the-job training. A lot of people with human resources degrees had some pretty unrealistic conceptions about the way the job worked. Nonetheless, a few of them were bright and creative enough to be worth giving a try.

It turns out that, of the people with human resources degrees, only two really seemed to make it through the trial period of employment. There were a couple others who I was sad to let go, but they really weren't fit for the job. I feel like the reason that some people get human resources degrees is to make them seem more competent than they are. Don't get me wrong – some human resources degree programs really do teach you a lot about how to manage people. Other ones, however, are not really worth the paper they are printed on.
